Peak Play Badminton is the largest dedicated premium badminton facility in Melbourne’s western area, offering high-quality courts for training, coaching, and recreational play. The venue serves a growing community of casual players, weekly regulars, and coaches who rely on consistent court access for training sessions. With flexible court hire and coaching programs, Peak Play has become a central hub for badminton players in Melbourne.

When the team behind Peak Play Badminton acquired the facility in April 2025, they stepped into a business built around court access and recurring bookings. Players rely on consistent weekly reservations to train and compete, while coaches often run lessons across multiple courts for hours at a time.
As part of the transition, the team tested a new booking platform while moving away from the facility’s previous system. Almost immediately, managing bookings became far more manual than expected.
“That was one of the most painful two months of my life in recent memory,” says Nick, Owner of Peak Play Badminton.
Instead of running the facility, the team spent most of their time trying to keep the booking calendar organized.
“We were spending close to 16 hours a day at the center because we just couldn’t get the bookings right,” he explains.
Recurring reservations created the biggest challenge. Many players reserve the same courts week after week.
“They make permanent bookings with us — same time, same day, same number of courts,” Nick says.
Without a system designed to manage those recurring bookings automatically, even small changes required staff to manually adjust the schedule. Editing reservations, updating recurring sessions, and maintaining the booking calendar quickly became a full-time task.
That experience made one thing clear: Peak Play needed a booking platform built for recurring bookings, flexible pricing, and minimal administrative work.
That search ultimately led them to AllBooked; a shift that would soon boost Peak Play’s recurring revenue by 25%.
At Peak Play Badminton, repeat players form the backbone of the facility’s schedule.
Many customers reserve the same court at the same time every week, creating a steady flow of standing bookings across the calendar.
“About 60 to 70% of our bookings come from regulars who make permanent reservations with us week on week,” explains Nick.
These recurring bookings anchor the facility’s schedule and create predictable revenue.
Coaches add another major layer of demand. Many run structured lessons throughout the week and reserve multiple courts at a time to train their students.
“Our top coach probably has close to 50 to 60 hours with us per week.”
With dozens of recurring bookings each week, even small schedule changes could quickly turn into hours of administrative work. AllBooked removes that friction by allowing both staff and players to manage reservations directly from the live calendar. Staff or users can simply select a booking, drag it to a new time, or update the repeat booking settings to apply changes across the entire series.
Instead of rebuilding schedules week by week, updates happen instantly.
“After we initially set it up, it becomes super easy to change any recurring bookings,” Nick explains.
Removing friction has had a measurable impact on the business.
“In terms of recurring revenue, we’ve seen about a 25% increase since adopting AllBooked,” Nick says.
Peak Play structures its pricing to reward loyal players while keeping courts full throughout the week.
Rates vary based on both membership status and time of day. During peak evening hours and weekends, members pay $25 per hour while non-members pay $28 per hour. During off-peak weekday hours, those rates drop to $16 for members and $18 for non-members.
This pricing drives long-term commitment from players.
Beyond the base rates, Peak Play also applies special pricing to coaches who bring the most consistent demand.
“We know coaches bring a lot of volume. Some of them run lessons across multiple courts for hours at a time,” Nick explains. “Giving them a special rate creates a long-term win-win relationship.”
Without AllBooked, managing peak pricing, membership discounts, and player-specific rates would require constant manual oversight.
Instead, Peak Play uses AllBooked’s pricing rules and user tags to apply the correct pricing automatically. If someone books a court on Tuesday at 7:00 PM, the system immediately shows the appropriate rate: $25 for members, $28 for non-members, and a special rate for coaches.
For coaches who move between different facilities, that level of transparency stands out.
“A few coaches told us we’re one of the only stadiums where they can actually see their pricing automatically when they book.”
Instead of contacting staff to confirm pricing, they simply open the live calendar, see their rate instantly, and reserve courts on their own.

When evaluating booking systems, Nick didn’t just compare feature lists. He also looked closely at how the platform would feel for both staff and players.
Many sports facility management systems have been around for decades, and some still rely on outdated interfaces. The team tested several options during their search, including legacy systems commonly used by tennis and badminton venues.
But the experience immediately felt outdated.
“I opened one of them and it looked like 90s Microsoft,” Nick recalls.
Peak Play needed a platform that could handle the complexity of recurring bookings, dynamic pricing, and high booking volume while still delivering a clean, intuitive interface for both staff and players.
So what ultimately convinced Peak Play to choose AllBooked? According to Nick, it came down to the booking experience.
“By far, AllBooked was the best user experience in terms of booking,” Nick says.
Players can open the live calendar, see available courts instantly, and secure their regular sessions in just a few clicks. Staff benefit from the same simplicity, managing reservations and adjusting bookings without navigating complicated menus or outdated systems.

When Peak Play’s owners first acquired the facility, they expected there would be less day-to-day interaction with customers.
They quickly realized that badminton venues are far more relationship-driven. Players reserve the same courts week after week, coaches run lessons for their students, and staff often know their regulars by name.
With AllBooked automating bookings, pricing, and recurring reservations, managing the calendar now requires far less manual work. That frees the team to focus on the players and coaches who keep the courts full week after week.
